City of Elmhurst, IL

Influent Flowmeter & Shroud Design-Build

A closer look

Project description

The project includes a design-build project delivery for the installation of shrouds to the raw influent pumps and the replacement of the two influent flowmeters at the City of Elmhurst Water Reclamation Facility. Three shrouds were installed to prevent splashing from the raw influent pumps into the Influent Motor Room. The project also included the replacement of two 24-inch influent strap-on ultrasonic flowmeters, which improved measurement accuracy. The project included modifications to the piping and electrical connections in the Valve & Meter Chamber to accommodate the new flowmeters.

These improvements to the Pretreatment Building allowed the City to provide a safer work environment in the pump room, as well as receive more accurate flow readings of the amount of wastewater flowing to the facility.
